INKEDblog takes you beneath the skin of today's tattoo culture. Our mission is to celebrate tattooing as a modern art form which incorporates art, fashion, style, and pop culture. While paying homage and respect to the past, we look to present a contemporary take on the present and future of skin art.

My eyeliner is a tatoo, does that count as a secret?

Well I made a very big mistake by getting my former boyfriends name tattooed on my right breast underneath one of my 2 farries. Not many people know about it, only a few friends. None of my family knows about it, because if they did they would freak, none of them liked my boyfriend, so if they knew it would go over all that well. Unfortuneatly I havnt been able to get it cover yet, one, I can't afford it right now and two Im not sure what to do with it. Im not sure if i should get just the name covered or if i should get the name covered and then the same done on my other breast underneath the other farie...Hmmm, it's a biggie to think about...don't want another mistake...

I had wanted a tat for as long as I can remember. Since at least 12(way too young). Through my teens, always thought I would get your typical girl tattoo...a rose...a butterfly...maybe the head of a unicorn. Never had the courage to just get it done. Looking back...I think, my tattoo was waiting to find me. In my 20's, I was dating a guy who once said, 'if you ever get a tattoo, that's it, it would be over. Done!' We boke up when I was 26, and a few months after, in an epiphaney, I knew what I was getting. Just above and to the left of my right pelvic bone, I got 2 paw prints with the word Paws above and Off below. My guarrantee it would never happen again and a total contradiction.

i have my last name tattooed inside my bottom lip,the given being no one can see it unless i pull my lip down or if im making out with a serious biter.

also, i have my favorite quote 'follow your bliss' by joseph campbell on the inside of my left wrist in white ink. its not a black light ink, just white. and no one can see it unless i show them or they catch my wrist in the correct light

me and my soulmate/roomate were simply brainstorming one day and thought it would be great to get each others' names tattooed on our asses. Of course, it was just a fleeting funny thought. But then we decided it would epic-ly horribly wonderful to actally do it! Deciding we had made a great enough impact on each other anyway, we thought we might as well have physical proof of it.
We were going to go through with it, until the day before our tat date she chickened out, saying her ass looked funny. So we got them done on our ribs right under our breasts. There was of course the intial showing off of the tats due to sheer novelty, but i think this tat will become an ironic surprise to whatever man sees me without my shirt... i can't wait for the opportunity to non challantly take my shirt off and some guy be like... "who the hell is katie?"

Always wanting a tattoo but too impatient to wait another 6 months for my 18th birthday, i sat down one afternoon and tattooed myself. A stupid thing to do, i know, but luckily it healed up extremely well, without infection. In any case, i ended up with a dotted nautical star on the inside of my left hipbone. Not the most original design but you can't expect much when using only a safety pin and india ink. Being below my pants line, only a few friends know about it.
